Drama-based instruction is an approach that uses both active and dramatic strategies to engage students in academic, affective, and aesthetic learning through dialogic meaning-making in all areas of your curriculum (Dawson & Kigor Lee, 2018). The strategies and techniques designed with this instruction offers educators the tools necessary to teach the whole child; providing tangible activities where students are able to progress towards higher order thinking and problem-solving. In this session, educators will learn the fundamental principles behind drama-based instruction; observe and participate in effective strategies to use with students of all ages; and have an opportunity to lesson plan alongside peers with guidance from the instructor. Participants will also leave this session with resources to support them in the classroom.
